My First Jewish Reader

The Jewish phonics-based reading program for Your Child

Frequently asked questions

What is a Jewish phonics-based reading program?

A structured, systematic approach to teaching reading using letter–sound relationships, designed with Jewish context, values, and imagery so children see themselves and their world in what they read.

What defines these readers as Jewish?

All the My First Jewish Reader resources aim to be 'Al Taharas Hakodesh' - Jewish, Torah-based content and values, right down to the images used inclduing only Kosher animals. We hope the student reading doesnt only gain reading skills but also good middos and to reinforce their Torah education.

How does My First Jewish Reader support Jewish General Studies?

Each reader integrates phonics with age-appropriate comprehension, vocabulary, and culturally relevant content. Our growing Resource Pack adds printable Common & Special Words lists, flashcards, and Torah-based General Studies materials to reinforce classroom learning.

Is it suitable for both classrooms and home use?

Yes. Educators use the series for whole-class and small-group instruction; parents use it at home for targeted practice and confident independent reading.

What ages or levels is the series designed for?

Early readers and emerging readers. Each book introduces a small set of sounds while revisiting those previously learned, building step-by-step fluency and comprehension.

How do subscriptions and the Coloring Activity Reader work?

Schools and educators can subscribe yearly for a print license of the Coloring Activity Reader (Series One or Series One & Two), with an optional Resource Pack. This keeps costs low for classrooms while giving students an engaging, take-home version of each book.
